- The 2025 ARAA book is out! This year's volume is special since three of the twelve reviews are written by Leiden staff members: Aline Vidotto on 'Star-planet interactions: a computational view', Ignas Snellen on 'Exoplanet atmospheres at high spectral resolution' and Matt Kenworthy and Sebastiaan Haffert on 'High contrast coronagraphy'. Together, they highlight the leadership of Leiden on various aspects of exoplanet research. Take a look at the link below for more info.
"ARAA papers are a long-lasting resource for the community." States Aline "I still remember going through several of them as a student, and I continue to read them today. With this entire volume being open-access, ARAA will continue to make Astronomy available for
a wider community.”
Matt agrees: “The Annual Reviews have been on my professional 'bucket list’ for many years and I was delighted to be invited and write a review for them. They are the first port of call for any astronomer wishing to get up to speed on any field.”
"It was a great privilege to write for Annual Reviews", says Ignas, "a lot of work, but also a once in a career opportunity."
The year 2025 marked the final year of Ewine van Dishoeck's co-editorship of ARAA, stepping down after more than twenty years at the helm. She was the first non-US editorial committee member and non-US co-editor. "It was an honor to serve the worldwide community in this way. Many thanks to our authors, who really stepped up to the plate in producing so many outstanding reviews. And, as a chemist by training, I also learned so much about astronomy myself!"
The Annual Reviews of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ARAA) publishes authoritative review articles (by invitation only) on significant developments across all areas of astronomy. It is the premier journal in the field with the highest impact factor, and is widely used by
researchers and students to get up-to-date, in-depth understanding of a topic.
